Plex Home Theater 1.4.1 updated for Debian/sid
Debian/sid is going through a big restructuring with the switch to a new gcc and libstc++. Furthermore, libcec3 is now the default. So I have updated my PHT builds for Debian/sid to build and install on the current status, both for amd64 and i386.
Add the following lines to your sources.list:
deb http://www.preining.info/debian/ sid pht
deb-src http://www.preining.info/debian/ sid pht
You can also grab the binary for amd64 directly here for amd64 and i386, you can get the source package with
dget http://www.preining.info/debian/pool/pht/p/plexhometheater/plexhometheater_1.4.1-2.dsc
The release file and changes file are signed with my official Debian key 0x860CDC13.
For Debian/testing I am waiting until the transition has settled. Please wait a bit more.

Hi! I did a dist-upgrade on my jessie/testing machine and now I only get “Segmentation Fault” when launching plexhometheater. Should I just wait til you release an update? (I have no problem with this, only asking to check if there is a workaround).
Jessie is not updated since we have to wait for the stdc++ transition being finished.
But versions before -2 should work on jessie, too. Which one are you using?

Do you think you will add Plex Media Player to the repository also? Seems like Plex will abandon PHT in the future.

Hmm, one second thought and checking through the build instructions, that looks like a pain. It requires Qt5.6alpha, while in Debian we are still at 5.4. I need to investigate this, but don’t see an immediate simple solution.
No rush, I assume PHT will continue to function for at least a year. But Plex wont add any new features to it. Maybe Debian Testing (which i’m running) will get Qt5.6 until then. For now PHT seems far superior to PMP after a quick glance, but I guess PMP will be improved quickly now while it is being tested by PlexPass users.
Yes indeed, for now no hurry. I’ll keep an eye (and the git repo) and see when we can build. I like that they use mpv, I use it often!
