TeX/Debian updates: texlive-bin (2014.20140528.34243-3) and biber (1.9-1)

In the last days I have also updated both texlive-bin source package (which ships texlive-binaries and some other packages), as well as biber, the indexing program related to biblatex.

TeX Live/Debian

The relevant changes are as follows. For texlive-bin we have three major things:

  • fix building on several archs by using a whitelist for luajittex instead a blacklist
  • import three bug fixes to luatex from upupstream repository (i.e., the one from luatex)
  • build synctex parser as shared library

The last point might be the most interesting, as it now allows projects that provide synctex features (syncronization of pdf/dvi viewer with source code viewer, examples are Okular, Evince, Texmaker, TeXworks, TeXstudio, Gummi) to not simply include the source code, but reuse the shared library. This will also ensure that changes in the synctex file format will not affect these programs. Initial work for this was done by Sebastian Ramacher, after which the all-mighty auto* master Peter Breitenlohner from our TeX Live Team as adapted the patches, and included a few more fixes.

For Biber it was a failure of mine to forget to update Biber to 1.9, which is necessary for the biblatex in TL2014. So update to latest upstream version, nothing spectacular.

As usual, all these package should by now have hit all the mirrors. Let me know if there are any problems!

Enjoy.
